Apprentice carpenter Needed in Canada By Stratosphere Properties Ltd.
As an apprentice carpenter, you will work under the supervision of experienced carpenters to learn and develop skills in the construction, repair, and renovation of wooden structures and fixtures. This position serves as an entry-level role in the carpentry trade, providing hands-on experience and training in various aspects of carpentry work.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assistance in Construction Projects:
- Assist carpenters in the construction of wooden structures such as frameworks, walls, floors, and roofs.
- Learn to interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate construction and assembly.
- Measurement and Cutting:
- Measure and cut materials to specified dimensions using hand tools, power saws, and other cutting equipment.
- Practice proper techniques for shaping, trimming, and fitting materials according to project requirements.
- Installation and Assembly:
- Help install doors, windows, cabinets, and other fixtures using appropriate fasteners and techniques.
- Learn to assemble and install scaffolding and other temporary structures as needed.
- Material Handling and Preparation:
- Assist in selecting and preparing construction materials, including lumber, plywood, and insulation.
- Organize and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas to ensure a safe and efficient workspace.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Follow safety guidelines and procedures to minimize accidents and injuries on the job site.
- Adhere to building codes, regulations, and industry standards for quality and safety in carpentry work.
Tasks
- Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
- Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
- Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware
Skills and Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of carpentry tools, materials, and techniques.
- Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
- Physical strength and stamina to perform tasks requiring lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing quality workmanship.
- Effective communication skills and willingness to learn and develop carpentry skills.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a carpentry apprenticeship program or enrollment in a vocational training course is advantageous.
- Prior experience in construction or carpentry work as a helper or laborer is beneficial.
Working Conditions:
- Work primarily outdoors and on construction sites, exposed to various weather conditions.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and hard hats may be required.
- Flexible hours may be necessary, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, depending on project deadlines.
