Key Responsibilities:
- Meat Preparation:
- Receive and inspect meat deliveries to ensure quality and freshness.
- Cut, trim, and prepare meat products according to customer requests, portion sizes, and recipes.
- Use knives, saws, grinders, and other tools to process meat efficiently and safely.
- Display and Presentation:
- Arrange and display meat products in an appealing manner to attract customers.
- Ensure proper labeling, pricing, and packaging of meat products for sale.
- Rotate and restock meat products to maintain freshness and minimize waste.
- Customer Service:
- Provide friendly and knowledgeable assistance to customers regarding meat selection, cooking methods, and product information.
- Fulfill special orders and requests from customers, such as custom cuts or marinades.
- Sanitation and Safety:
- Adhere to sanitation and safety regulations for handling and preparing meat products.
- Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils regularly to maintain hygiene standards.
- Dispose of waste and trimmings properly and in accordance with health codes.
- Inventory Management:
- Monitor inventory levels and order meat supplies as needed to meet demand.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and assist with stock rotation and storage.

- Cut, trim and prepare standard cuts of meat
- Wrap and package prepared meats
- Prepare special displays of meats, poultry and fish products
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a butcher or meat cutter, preferably in a retail or supermarket environment.
- Knowledge of meat cuts, preparation methods, and safe handling practices.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively.
- Attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to lift and handle heavy cuts of meat and operate equipment.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Formal training or apprenticeship in meat cutting and food safety is beneficial.
- Certification in food handling and safety (e.g., ServSafe) may be required.
Working Conditions:
- Work primarily indoors in a refrigerated environment.
- Variable shifts including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical requirements include standing for extended periods and lifting heavy objects.
