As a transportation logistics coordinator, your primary responsibility is to oversee and manage the transportation and distribution of goods and materials for a company or organization. You will coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure efficient and timely delivery while optimizing costs and resources.

Key Responsibilities:
- Route Planning and Optimization:
- Plan and coordinate transportation routes for shipments to ensure timely delivery and minimize costs.
- Optimize delivery schedules and routes based on factors such as distance, traffic patterns, and customer requirements.
- Carrier Management:
- Select and manage carriers and freight forwarders to transport goods, negotiating rates and service contracts.
- Monitor carrier performance, track shipments, and resolve any issues or delays that may arise during transit.
- Inventory and Supply Chain Coordination:
- Collaborate with inventory management and procurement teams to coordinate shipment schedules and ensure adequate stock levels.
- Track inventory movement and manage warehouse space utilization to optimize storage and distribution efficiency.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Prepare shipping documents, including bills of lading, customs documentation, and export/import paperwork as required.
- Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and safety standards, including hazardous materials handling and international shipping requirements.
- Communication and Customer Service:
- Communicate proactively with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders regarding shipment status, delays, and other logistics issues.
- Provide excellent customer service, addressing inquiries and resolving transportation-related concerns promptly.
- Performance Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyze transportation data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Prepare regular reports on transportation activities, including key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics.

Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a logistics coordinator or in a similar role within transportation, shipping, or supply chain management.
- Knowledge of transportation logistics, including route planning, carrier management, and freight forwarding.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners.
- Problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, particularly in resolving logistics and transportation-related challenges.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Supply Chain Professional, Certified Logistics Professional) may be advantageous.
- Proficiency in logistics software and systems, such as ERP systems, transportation management systems (TMS), and GPS tracking tools.
Working Conditions:
- Work in an office environment, with occasional visits to warehouse facilities or transportation hubs.
- Flexible hours may be required to accommodate shipment schedules and time zone differences for international logistics.
- May involve occasional travel for site visits, meetings with carriers, or attending industry events.
